PL 470 - Urban Design Project-3 "Neighborhood Design":
The course focuses on developing students’ skills, practices and values fundamental to designing successful neighborhoods. It teaches the student neighborhood design process including, data collection and analysis, site analysis, project program preparation, evaluation of alternatives and selection of preferred concept, land use and master plan development. In addition to being a practical course, it focuses on preparing detailed housing clusters/layouts, and on establishing visual and spatial connections between various clusters and other services within the neighborhood. Throughout the duration of the course, the student is to consider urban design principles, objectives and criteria as well as other various factors that influence the development of the project.

يركز المقرر على المهارات والممارسات والقيم الأساسية لتصميم مجاورات سكنية ناجحة تحسن من نوعية الحياة للسكان. حيث يتعلم الطالب العملية التصميمية للمجاورة السكنية، بما في ذلك جمع البيانات وتحليلها وتحليل الموقع وإعداد برنامج المشروع وتقييم البدائل واختيار البديل الأفضل وتوزيع استعمالات الأراضي وإعداد المخطط العام. وبما أنه مقرر عملي تطبيقي، يركز الطالب فيه أيضاً على إعداد تصاميم عمرانية مفصلة لمختلف المجموعات السكنية، وعلى إقامة العلاقات المكانية والبصرية بين مختلف هذه المجموعات السكنية وغيرها من الخدمات داخل المجاورة، آخذاً بعين الإعتبار معايير التصميم العمراني والعوامل المختلفة الأخرى التي تؤثر في تطوير المشروع.
