I am working with the physical characteristics of semi-conductors with dimensions at the nanometer scale at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Semi-conductors are materials which all electronic components such as transistors and integrated circuits are made up of. Semiconductors are consequently at the heart of all modern information technology. By drastically reducing the size of semi-conductor components to the nanometer scale, completely new properties can be realised. Besides being small and allowing more transistors to be packed into a single chip, the uniform and symmetrical structure of nanotubes (or QDs, QWs, QWRs) allows a higher electron mobility (faster electron movement in the material), a higher dielectric constant (faster frequency), and a symmetrical electron/hole characteristic. So my main research works are the electrical and optical properties of various types of nanostructures.
