This course focuses on the Service Oriented Computing paradigm and web services technology, motivations that led to the emergence of web services from middleware and Enterprise Architecture Integration (EAI), introduction to fundamental concepts of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), web services and the key standards that underpin web services: SOAP,WSDL and UDDI.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will:

• Perform a service-oriented analysis
• Design and Build SOA with Web services.
• Model service candidates derived from existing business documentation
• Design the composition of an SOA
• Use, in their own programs, Web services published by others.
• Evaluate the impact of SOA on software quality, efficiency, security, performance and flexibility.
