I am an academic, a researcher, and an editor in Computer Sciences. My main research areas are Intelligent computing and their applications, AI, ML , Search-based Software Engineering SBSE , optimization, decision support evolutionary computation, multi-objective optimization, meta-heuristics, and software engineering, . Currently, I am  an assistant professor in the Department of Software Engineering, College of Computer and Information Science (CCIS). I am also acting as the head of the Public Relation and Media Unit and the head of the community relations units at CCIS.

Mashael Maashi received the B.Sc. degree in computer Science from King Abdulaziz University, KSA, in 2005, the M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Glamorgan University, UK in 2009, and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from University of Nottingham, UK in 2014. She is currently working as an assistant professor in the department of software engineering, collage of college of computer and information sciences, King Saud University, KSA. She previously worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology - University of Tabuk.

Her main research areas are evolutionary computation, multi-objective optimization, meta-heuristic, hyper-heuristic, software optimization, intelligent computing, and their applications.

Dr. Maashi is an active contributor to the research. She has published many papers in high-impact international journals.
She is a guest editor in several special issues in the prestigious International Journals including CMC, Journal of Intelligent Systems, Signa Vitae Journal, and many. She is a member of the editorial board in the International Journal of Computational & Neural Engineering (IJCNE). In addition, she served as lead-editor for the special issue theme “Computational Engineering” in IJCNE. She is acted as a board member for the Global 2019 Congress on Computer Engineering. She also acts as a member in Technical program Committees TPCs for International Conferences including Evolutionary Computing (MIC-Evolu 2019), Computer Science and Engineering (MIC-Computing-19), Big Data and Security (ICBDS 2019) and Future Communications and Computing (MIC-FutureCom 2020). She organized and chaired a session" Sustainable Heterogeneous Energy-Aware Systems for Next-Generation Devices and Networks in the 4th International Conference On Innovative Computing And Communication (ICICC 2021). She reviewed a number of papers for elite international scientific journals such as IEEE Cybernetics Journal, the Computational Optimization and Applications Journal, Applied Soft Computing, IEEE Access, International Journal of Information Technology, Decision Making, Advances in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Optimization, and Applied and Computational Mathematics and Computers, Materials & Continua and others. Also, she acted as a referee for many international conferences including Fuzzy Systems and Data Mining (FSDM 2018) and Artificial Intelligence and Security (ICAIS 2019)

In 2014, She was honored by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau, Saudi Embassy in London, the United Kingdom for the distinction in Scientific Research. And she rewarded a distinction certificate and her name was listed on the honor board on the official website of the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau in London, for the distinction research and study.

In academia, she has taught more than 10 modules in the bachelor’s program and 5 specialized modules in the master's and Ph.D. programs. She also has supervised a number of bachelor projects and master projects and thesis. She worked in many committees as a chair and a member including Midea and Public Relations, Community Relations Quality and Accreditation, Curriculum and Courses Planning, Community Service, Graduation Project, Staff Training and Skill Development, Academic Affair…etc.

Dr. Maashi worked voluntarily in many Accreditation Organizations. She acts as an observer for Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and she works as a cooperative Consultant at National Center for Academic Accreditation & Evaluation (NCAAA).
