نبذة تعريفية / مختصر السيرة الذاتية

Prof. Ahmed BaHammam was appointed as a Full Professor of Medicine at King Saud University (KSU) in 2006.  He established the first academic sleep disorders center in Saudi Arabia in 2001.  Then the first Sleep Medicine Fellowship program in the region was established by him in 2009.  He chaired a committee that established the Saudi regulation for accreditation of sleep medicine specialists and sleep technologists in 2012. He is a founder member of the Saudi Thoracic Society in 2003 and the Saudi Sleep Medicine Group in 2007.  He established the first sleep medicine fellowship training program in the region and established a regional program for polysomnography workshops and advanced scoring courses in 2010. So far, he has conducted more than 20 workshops in different countries in the Middle East. He was awarded King Saud University Lifetime Achievement Award, 2016.  He is the Editor of the JNSM and the Associate Editor of the Ann Thoracic Med and Frontiers in Neurology. He is a member of the editorial board of several medical journals. He published more than 300 scientific articles, more than 40 chapters, and 2 books.
To educate the public about sleep disorders, Prof. BaHammam established the first Arabic electronic encyclopedia about sleep disorders on the net “Sleep in Health and Disease” http://alnoum.com/index.php/ar/home 

He is:
