Nonlinear polarization & nonlinear susceptibility. A classical model of the nonlinear susceptibility. Second-order nonlinear effects: (a) Second Harmonic Generation, (b) Sum-Frequency Generation, (c) Difference-Fequency Generation. Parametric Oscillatoe and Parametric Amplifier. Third-order nonlinear processes: (a) Intensity-dependent refractivs index: (a) Self-focusing and defocusing, (b) Self-phase modulation & cross-phase modulation, (c) four-wave mixing. Phase conjugation. Stimulated Raman Scattering. Stimulated Brillouin Scattering.
