BCH 453:Hormones
o educate students with informations about hormones.
Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:
Know the basic terms and concepts about endocrine activity. Indicate where specific glands are located in the body. Describe the features and compare between the protein and steroid hormones. Describe the activity of the hypothalamus Compare the tissues and hormonal activity of the anterior and posterior pituitary glands, including FSH, LH, TSH, PRL, ACTH, GH, oxytocin and ADH. Discuss the major hormones of the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, and adrenal glands. Discuss the major activity of sex hormones including estrogens, progesterone, and testosterone.
To teach the student's detailed information about hormone disturbance –related diseases. To develop in the students' an awareness with role of life styles in the prevention of hormone-related diseases.
