RHS 460 - Counseling

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course will present basic theoretical background that is essential for an effective counseling technique. Relevant models of practice in regard will be demonstrated and practiced. The course will highlight counseling as therapeutic method that is capable of mobilizing patients coping capabilities together with the close relatives that interact with them on daily basis. The course will also deal with topics of assertiveness.
The Aims of the course are:

  1. Develop understanding for different approaches associated with counseling
  2. Discussion on counseling for the parents of children with developmental disabilities and person with disability for their rights
  3. developing the ability for understand applicability of different types of counseling
  4. Developing the skills to carry out counseling effectively

 OBJECTIVES:
Upon the successful completion of course, the students should be able to:

  1. Appreciate counseling as a helping mechanism
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of ethical issues inherent in counseling
  3. Exhibit considerable counseling skills
