CSC 484 – Information Retrieval

Information retrieval is the study of computational methods for organizing and searching large sets of semi-structured and heterogeneous data. This course will cover concepts and techniques for indexing full-text documents, retrieving and scoring documents for user queries, and evaluating the effectiveness of search engines. We will read and discuss recent research on these and other topics of interest for search engine development.
