Objectives:The listening component of this course aims at training students in listening and understanding audio-taped materials in the form of conversations, interviews, short exchanges, or other speech events that deal with different topics. The materials contain at the linguistic level short sentences, basic vocabulary and simple constructions. At discourse level, the same materials are made up of direct and indirect speech acts, pauses, hedges, hesitations, and fillers.
