Research
Diastolic dysfunction and Diastolic heart failure in the postoperative heart is the area of my
interest. For the about 9 years we have been actively involved in the study of diastolic
dysfunction and diastolic heart failure in the post-operative heart with a team of
researchers from The University of Melbourne in Australia. We have jointly published on
the subject. We described for the first time the diagnostic features of diastolic heart
failure in the postoperative heart and subsequently wrote the management with the
University of Melbourne team. Both articles are in the European Journal of Cardiothoracic
surgery. Following that, we embarked on the Impact of Transthoracic
Echocardiography and Respiratory Ultrasound Assessment in Cardiac Surgery (ITRACS).
This study looked at the non-invasive monitoring of the cardiac surgical patient

International Meetings:
Following the publication of the articles about diastolic heart failure in the postop heart in the
European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, which is one of the major journals in the specialty
invitations to speak, started to come to speak in conferences about it
