歯の発育と萌出のアトラス
 
我々は、年齢を推定するために、胎生28週から23歳までの標本を用い、文献を基に個々の歯の発育と歯槽骨萌出を評価し、断続や重複のない連続した発達年齢を示すアトラスを作成した1。
資料は、ロンドンの The Royal College of Surgeons of England と The Natural History Museum 所蔵の死亡年齢の記録がある72の出生前、104の出生後の骨格標本（男91、女72、不明13）に加え2,3、一般住民の歯科用レントゲン写真である（男女共に264）4 。各年齢区分の中間で本アトラスの歯の発育と萌出を評価した。歯の発育はMoorrees, Funning, Hunt5,6の文献を参考に、萌出は歯槽骨のレベルで評価した7,8。験者間の再現性は、755歯（65個体）についてKappaを用いて検定したところ、0.85であった。
図は、妊娠後期の1/3、出生前後の2週間、生後1年は4半期、その後は1年ごとについて、月々の歯の発育を表すように描いた。
 
本アトラスは、教育や個人の学習の目的にダウンロードすることが可能である。
 
現在、本アトラスを基に、歯の発育から年齢を推定するためのコンピュータを用いた対話方式のソフトウエアーを開発中である。
