NUR 425 Decision-making in clinical applications

This course introduces the student to clinical decision-making in nursing. The nursing process is presented, with the focus on making nursing diagnoses and identifying outcome criteria. The social, legal, ethical and cultural context of decision making in nursing is explored. Research is introduced as a method of inquiry and as a foundation for evidence based clinical decisions. Clinical decision-making to promote patient adaptation is emphasized. Students have the opportunity to practice decision making skills in simulated and actual patient settings.

366 pharmacology

This course is designed to introduce students to the nurse’s role and responsibilities of medication administration and the basic principles of pharmacology. It presents introductory core concepts of pharmacology including drug regulations, classifications, categories, delivery systems calculations, drug administration. It presents intermediate medical / surgical core concepts of clinical pharmacology which includes major body systems, diseases / disorders, and methods drugs are used therapeutically to treat them.

NUR 316 Adult Health Nursing

This course focuses on the care of adult patients with acute and chronic illness and their responses to actual and potential alterations in health. The concept of nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving were stressed as a framework in providing comprehensive patient care.
