This course will present fundamental and basic facts that will articulate the theoretical concepts of the medical aspects of disabling conditions arising from cardiovascular, pulmonary, integumentary, nervous, and musculoskeletal systems, in addition to some selected cases of Women's health disabling conditions. The overall goal is to facilitate the deep understanding of the mechanisms (pathological changes) through which disability may develop with respect to the principal anatomical/physiological systems mentioned.

This course introduces the need for conducting research in the field of physical therapy, stressing the importance of evidence-based practice. The core of this course will be to teach the students how to conduct a scientific research, starting with a relevant clinical question and ending with how to interpret and analyze the research findings

Dimensions and units; Fundamental concepts in fluids; Fluid statics; Control volume; Conservation of mass and momentum equations; Differential form of equations; Stream function and velocity potential; Euler's equations; Bernoulli's equation; Dimensional analysis and model studies; Internal incompressible viscous flow; External viscous flow. Laboratory experiments concerning basic principles of fluid motion and their application on forces on immersed bodies, free jets and flow in conduits.
