This course introduces students majoring in English to basic sentence structures. This introduction is gradual; it starts from familiarizing the student with parts of speech (such as nouns, pronouns, and verbs) to enabling him/her to produce grammatically acceptable sentences in the English language. Furthermore, this course is meant to give a solid background for upcoming writing and composition courses English majors take as part of their academic plan.
