Deconvolution of High Rate Flicker Electroretinograms

Abstract— Flicker electroretinograms are steady-state electroretinograms (ERGs) generated by high rate flash stimuli that produce overlapping periodic responses. When a flash stimulus is delivered at low rates, a transient response named flash ERG (FERG) representing the activation of neural structures within the outer retina is obtained. Although FERGs and flicker ERGs are used in the diagnosis of many retinal diseases, their waveform relationships have not been investigated in detail.

Islam and Human Life: Beyond Ancient Needs

This paper is expository in nature. It attempts to describe how Islam came in response to a cultural need to civilize the ancient Arabs but is fit for all times and people. The faith’s influence proved to be thorough. Its legislative matter covers all aspects of human life: social, political, economic, and educational. It also delineates the paths to good health, scientific progress and human relationships including family ties, matrimonial matters, and inheritance distribution. However, Muslims seem to have a lax hold on Islam.

Coleridge’s ‘Bllad of the Dark Ladie’: The Story between the Lines

The focus of this article is “The Ballad of the Dark Ladie,” a short fragment by the English Romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834). Critics often overlook the poem in their reading of Coleridge although it has an interesting story between the lines. The story carries significant revelations about Coleridge’s literary relationship with foreign cultures and elements, the Dark Lady in this particular case.

Acts of Negation: Modality and Spatiality in The Satanic Verses

This paper reads Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses through a postcolonial critical perspective. It argues that the author rewrites the history of Islam by utilizing postcolonial strategies of historiographic modality and spatiality in order to challenge Islam as a colonizing force and deconstruct what he considers its essentialist creeds. Ironically, Rushdie abuses postcolonial discourse by essentializing Islam and evaluating it from an imperial perspective and a Eurocentric point of view.
