This paper tackles the issue of representing the target language’s culture in translation. It is argued that English translations of Arabic literary works are influenced by stereotypical representations of Arabs. These representations were also supported by the selection of works to be translated and the strategies used in translation.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى لفت أنظار الباحثين والنقاد نحو الأدب الإسباني الإفريقي الذي لم يحظَ بالاهتمام الذي يستحقه. وقد رأيت أن تأخذ هذه الدراسة الطابع التاريخي، حيث أتعرض من خلالها لدراسة المظاهر الأدبية المختلفة في غينيا الاستوائية منذ فترة الاستعمار حتى الوقت الراهن، على أمل أن تكون مقدمة لدراسات أخرى وصفية ومقارنة، سواء بينه وبين آداب إفريقية أخرى، أو بينه وبين أداب إسبانية أخرى.
