Ameliorative potential of stem bromelain on lead-induced toxicity in Wistar rats”

The present study investigates the protective efficacy of stem bromelain against lead-induced toxicity in
male Wistar rats. There were six experimental groups; Group I was negative control, Group II was administered
only 20 mg/kg of stem bromelain. Group III and V were orally exposed to 30 mg/kg/day and
60 mg/kg/day of lead acetate, respectively. Group IV and Group VI were exposed to both low and high
dose of lead acetate, respectively, and treated with 20 mg/kg stem bromelain. The experimental period

Effect of calcium supplementation on lead-induced genotoxicity and bioaccumulation in suckling Wistar rats.

The study investigated the effect of calcium (Ca) supplementation on lead-induced toxicity in suckling male Wistar rats. The sucklings were exposed to lead acetate (5 mg/kg b wt./week) orally for a period of six weeks. The unexposed group of sucklings was the negative control. Out of the lead-exposed groups, two groups were supplemented with Ca at 3% and 6% as CaHPO4 × 2H2O in suspension in cow's milk. The artificial feeding regimen was followed for 7 h each day for 6 weeks.

Metabolic Response To Subacute And Subchronic Iron Overload In A Rat Model.

One of the common causes of iron overload is excessive iron intake in cases of iron-poor anemia, where
iron saccharate complex (ISC) is routinely used to optimize erythropoiesis. However, non-standardized
ISC administration could entail the risk of iron overload. To induce iron overload, Wistar rats were intraperitoneally
injected with subacute (0.2 mg kg–1) and subchronic (0.1 mg kg–1) overdoses of ISC for 2
and 4 weeks, respectively. Iron status was displayed by an increase in transferrin saturation (up to 332%)

Promy Virk (2017). Antidiabetic Activity of Green Gold - Silver Nanocomposite with Trigonella foenum graecum L. Seeds Extract on Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats. Pakistan Journal of Zoology.(Accepted).

Background: The use of nanoparticles offers a potential therapeutic regime for diabetes management. The aim of the present study was the green synthesisofgold and silver(Au/Ag) nanocomposite using aqueous Trigonellafoenum-graecum(fenugreek)seed  extract and to evaluate the anti-diabetic activity of the prepared nanocomposite. Materials and Methods: Stable Au/Ag nanoparticles with aqueous extract of Trigonella seed extract were synthesized and characterized using Zetasizer and Transmission and Scanning Electron Microscopy.
