The following syllabus outline is based on the content description of chapters in the required textbook.
Chapter 1: A review of the IPA: the basic sounds of the English language. Defining phonemic transcription and understanding its relevance to foreign language learning.
Chapter 2: An explanation of how the speech organs work in the production of speech sounds.
