551 PA – Advanced Topics in Health and Hospital Administration

Course Description:
This course introduces students to the problem of risk; and health insurances: medical
health insurance and disability income insurance; and other topics such as social
insurance programs, private insurance industry, and regulation of the insurance
industry. Additionally, it explores methods such as basics of actuarial Health
insurance, health insurance claim processing and treatment approval. Finally, the
course will discuss KSA's experience with health insurance.

Conduct of the Course:
In addition to the mid-terms and final exams there will be a term paper and
presentation. For the term paper, student has to write a paper on a Health Insurance
topic, and then student will present his paper (80 percent of the paper should be
based on scientific journals. Online websites are not considered as scientific
sources).

Grading:
The final grade will be based on the following:
Class participation 10%
1st Mid-term 18%
2nd Mid-term 18%
Paper and Presentation 14%
Final 40%
