GE404 - Engineering Management

Engineering Management which basically deals with projects, in daily or engineering problems, is the activity and process of planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling procedures, resources and protocols to achieve specific goals. A project is a temporary endeavor designed to produce a unique product within a pre-defined time period and is usually constrained by time, fund and/or deliverables. Contrary to the business as usual (or operations), which are repetitive or (semi-)permanent functional activities, projects has the temporary natureIn practice. Therefore, management of these two systems is often quite different, and as such requires the development of distinct technical skills and management strategies.

The main issue of engineering management may be to achieve all of the project goals and objectives under many boundary constraints such as scope, time, quality and budget. And to optimize the allocation of limited resouces and integrate them to achieve the goals and bjectives must be an ambitious challenge.
