CE534 - Traffic Flow Operations and Control

Introduction

The course will deliver students an overview of concepts in traffic flow operations and control. In most of the lectures, the instructor will explain the fundamental theories and some applications of various traffic flow models. This course, however, will also focus on the insights that will be grown through the discussions between the instructor and the students. Hence, the course is intended for:

• Graduate students in transportation specialty who want an overview of traffic flow operations and control
• Advanced practitioners in transportation field who need to learn traffic flow fundamentals better

Topics

Modeling of traffic flow operations and control using mathematical programming. Applications using simulation techniques, optimization methods, and expert systems. Emerging technologies such as ATMS, ATIS, AVCS, etc.
